YamoChori is an environmental project that started in 2021 in Makria Logga, Etoloakarnania. It is an initiative that aims to create a community of people who live and work in harmony with nature, applying permaculture techniques, natural building and natural cultivation. This venture forms the basis for organizing youth exchanges, volunteering programs, local actions and trainings, creating a space where self-sufficiency, autonomy and freedom are core values.
The main purpose of YamoChori is to actively involve youth and youth-minded people in social interest initiatives. Through participation and collaboration, we seek to foster a sense of teamwork, solidarity and responsibility among participants. In addition, YamoChori aims to:
- Empowerment of the local community: Especially young people living in remote areas, through their participation in initiative projects.
- Cultural development: Preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of the region.
- Promoting sustainable practices: Through permaculture, natural building and zero intervention in the natural environment.
- Development of hiking trails: Promoting ecotourism and contact with nature.
YamoChori’s vision is to create a vibrant core of people who live and work with nature, mobilizing and revitalizing the local community. We seek to bring life back to mountain villages, offering sustainable solutions to locals and those who wish to live close to nature, creating a social life with a non-intrusive and non-tourist character.
