The Center for the Study and Revitalization of Traditional Dances and Songs (CIRTIP) was founded in 2014 in Kolašin. It was established by enthusiasts of traditional dance and music – active and former members of the Cultural and Artistic Society “Mijat Maškovic,” who recognize the importance of studying heritage.
The mission of CIRTIP is to take a scientific approach to older and newer dance and music practices. This involves field research (interviewing and recording resource persons), analyzing recorded materials, and further using them for educational purposes or stage adaptations.
The collaborators of CIRTIP are experts in the fields of ethnocoreology, ethnomusicology, ethnology, anthropology, dance and singing methodology, choreography, as well as hobbyists who have excelled in their efforts to study and transmit dance and music heritage. Following contemporary trends in these fields, CIRTIP offers everyone the opportunity to present their activities, ideas, theories, and scientific viewpoints, regardless of their interests, and to equally participate in projects and programs.
CIRTIP organizes presentations, concerts, scientific gatherings, and festivals as needed, and also engages or forms specialized ensembles for participation in domestic and international festivals. Members of our open ensemble can be from all countries around the world.
