MONUMENTA is a non-profit civil company for the protection of the natural and architectural heritage of Greece and Cyprus. It was created in 2006. Its actions include interventions for the protection of monuments, historic buildings and the landscape, research and educational programs and information and awareness activities. MONUMENTA’s work includes interventions in cases of demolitions and alterations of historic buildings and complexes, ancient monuments at risk, answering in most cases to citizens’ appeals. MONUMENTA also aims to collect and rescue archival material concerning the buildings of the 19th and 20th century. Since 2013 MONUMENTA has included in its research for the documentation of the buildings the collection of oral testimonies from the owners and users of the buildings as well as from architects.
