The European Heritage Hub in Athens is a regional hub of Europa Nostra, dedicated to cultivate an interconnected community of heritage actors across the Balkans, Türkiye, Armenia and Georgia. It is run by Elliniki Etairia, the Society for the Environment and Cultural heritage in Greece, founded in 1972, in collaboration with Europa Nostra and the Municipality of Athens.
Our mission is to connect diverse heritage organisations in the Balkans, Türkiye, Georgia and Armenia, fostering collaboration and understanding, with a special emphasis on the engagement of youth. We approach the protection of cultural heritage as a pivotal peace-building process and view cultural heritage as a potent lever to amplify our collective efforts against climate change and environmental priorities. Above all, we want to encourage bonds between people who share the same belief that our past heritage is a great strength for the quality of our future.
The Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Athens aims to empower the network of European heritage organisations focusing in the Balkans, Turkey, Georgia and Armenia. The Athens Heritage Hub is a result of close cooperation between Europa Nostra – the pan-European federation of cultural heritage organisations, the Municipality of Athens and ELLINIKI ETAIRIA Society for the Environment & Cultural Heritage (ELLET).
